In addition...

You're probably saying, what does this have to do with food? I don't even SEE any food. And you know what, you're right! But allow me to tell you about this magnificent little gem. I also went to this place on the same weekend I was celebrating my sister's wedding shower. It is called Upstairs on the Square, and it's also located in Cambridge, MA.http://www.upstairsonthesquare.com/ The reason I'm posting this picture is because I had the absolute BEST Reuben I have ever tasted while sitting in this room. I know when I say "BEST" it's probably not really registering with you. I'll describe it for you. (And no, I don't have a picture. I think upon seeing the masterpiece I just forgot about photos and just started drooling.)

It was a Duck Confit Reuben. It had Fontina cheese that was slightly melted from the heat of the duck, apricot jam, and a fennel-pomegranate slaw on toasty bread. I have had duck on a few occasions but never like this. People tend to believe duck can be oily, and you're right, it can be. I didn't care at this particular moment. The crunchy bread with the soft duck and the sweetness of the jam...it makes me want to drive back to Cambridge right now! The crunchy fennel slaw that I thought would taste like licorice, but it tasted sweet. I didn't mind that everyone else was having eggs for brunch, and I chose to have duck.
Best. Decision. Ever. :-)

  1. Love it! Great food and a great atmosphere to celebrate with your closest ladies (or just a good excuse to eat something sinful :P).
